Thoughts from the fashionista

I’m a relatively new joiner to online shopping however given the strong Aussie dollar, it’s hard to avoid the bargains to be found online. I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to get into shopping on the world wide web. Perhaps it was the fear of the unknown – not knowing if the product being bought would match the description; not knowing how safe the security of a site was . . . however, my penchant for finding bargains meant that I could not stay away for long!

My first foray into online shopping was for makeup. I cannot recommend buying make up online enough, if you know what you’re after. My “day” foundation is Chanel Pro Lumiere. Having been colour matched at a Chanel counter, I knew exactly what colour I was, and had no problems in purchasing online. Thank you Strawberrynet for saving me about $20 on what I would normally pay over the counter!

Our sister’s birthday was fast approaching, and being her 30th, we wanted to get her something special, something she would have forever. Living in Brisbane, Queensland, we are often starved for fashion . . .  cue net-a-porter! I often visit this website, simply to look at the beautiful fashion on offer, however here was the perfect opportunity to make my first online purchase at the phenomena that is net-a-porter. Here we found a truly exquisite Valentino scarf, 10% cashmere, 90% modal. I love the free-of-charge gift wrapping that net-a-porter offer, as well as the extra speedy delivery of our online purchase.

My next online shopping expedition will be to ASOS. I love the ability to search clothes according to a celebrity’s style as I absolutely adore particular celebrities’ style (we’ll save this topic for another time!). I am a little hesitant though, not being able to try something on first, as forums that discuss ASOS say that the sizing can be hit and miss. One of the things that turn me off online clothes shopping is the fact that generally you have to pay for the postage to send the clothes back if they don’t fit. A blog I’ve recently stumbled across should help with assessing what the clothes from ASOS are really like: http://whatwasyourasosorderlike.blogspot.com/
